Monaco Increase driver first to give Porsche a win in Formula E

With the resounding success of Mexico City, Monaco Increase’s Pascal Wehrlein has become the first driver ever to bring home a victory for the prestigious Porsche brand in the FIA Formula E world series. The Weissach firm has won in virtually every category it’s competed in, including a lone Formula One French Grand Prix back in 1962, and dominated for long time the scene in the various Endurance championships. With MIM’s support, Wehrlein helped his team to set yet another jewel in their crown, a success completed by Pascal’s team-mate, Andre Lotterer, who came in second through the finish line.

For Pascal himself, Mexico was the fulfilling of a dream that had started already on his first Formula E season, when he took pole and led until a few meters to the chequered flag, only to see his hopes of a win dashed by a dying battery. Then in 2021 he did win the Puebla race but the result was taken away from him due to an irregularity in reading his tyres’ bar code. “Yes, two times I had been so close to winning in Mexico” comments the 27-years old German-Mauritian “and I am so happy that this time we got it. The team had a good strategy plan, even though I was not so sure it would work out. After last season we have been under pressure of course, but we never stopped believing in ourselves and we knew that we had a good package and could be up there in the lead, if we managed to get everything right in a race weekend”.

Pascal has already returned home from Mexico and now he’s focusing on the next round of the series, which will take place in Rome next April. “I hope that this result will give more self-confidence to the whole team”, he says. “If we can carry this momentum into the next races, then things will become easier for us starting from today”.
