MIM-contracted driver Lirim Zendeli completed the final round of the 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup Italia at Mugello, in a weekend that began with impressive pace but was ultimately marked by a series of setbacks.
Zendeli dominated Thursday’s pre-event test and confirmed his speed during Friday’s free practice, setting the fastest time of the session with a lap of 1:50.551. However, a spin during his first flying lap attempt in qualifying, on the approach to Scarperia, sent him off track at Palagio and compromised his session, leaving him in 30th position.
In Race 1, contact with Alexander Tauscher involved both drivers and led to the suspension of the race under a red flag. Following the incident, Zendeli was taken to Borgo San Lorenzo hospital for medical checks. According to the championship organisers, his condition was not a cause for concern.
As a result, the German driver was unable to take part in Race 2, bringing his Mugello weekend and 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup Italia season to an early close.
Despite this disappointing ending, Zendeli concludes the season having demonstrated his speed and competitiveness at various points throughout the championship. His focus now turns to the challenges ahead.
