WEHRLEIN PREPARES FOR CARNIVAL ATMOSPHERE IN FORMULA E ROUND 4 IN SÃO PAULO (BRAZIL)

Mar 15, 2024

Pascal Wehrlein (TAG-Heuer Porsche) heads for the fourth round of the FIA Formula E World Championship this weekend on the São Paulo street circuit with the clear intention of getting back to fighting for the win after a couple of disappointing results one month ago in Saudi Arabia.

The 29-year-old German-Mauritian, who kicked off the season with a pole position trophy and a win in Mexico, was unable to get amongst the front-runners in Diriyah and slipped off the top of the table, but such is the hard-fought nature of this year’s championship – with three different winners in three races and seven different drivers from six teams on the podium – then anything could happen this weekend amidst what is sure to be a carnival atmosphere around the Sambadrome venue.

Pascal is lying second in the championship table, 19 points behind the current leader Nick Cassidy (Jaguar).

Following its debut there one year ago, this will be the second time that the electric Formula E series races around the streets of São Paulo where the Porsche driver finished seventh in 2023. The 2.93 km long, 11-corner track, part of which normally sees a sea of carnival floats and revelry, presents a challenging mixture of long straights, 90° turns and a couple of hairpins, but offers plenty of overtaking opportunities.

The weekend schedule reverts to being virtually a one-day affair, with Free Practice 1 on Friday, and FP2, Qualifying and Race making up a packed programme on Sunday.

Stay tuned to our social media channels or follow Pascal live on TV worldwide as Season 10 of the electric Formula E series continues.
