PASCAL POWERS TO POLE IN MEXICO!

Jan 13, 2024

MIM driver Pascal Wehrlein (TAG-Heuer Porsche) got his 2024 FIA Formula E campaign off to a flying start with a brilliant performance in Qualifying for the opening round of the championship in Mexico City.

The German driver looked cool and confident throughout the two practice sessions to ease his way into the Qualifying Duels, where he quickly disposed of Robin Frijns and then Nick Cassidy in the semi-final, before facing off against the experienced Sébastien Buemi in the run-off for the top slot. In the final Pascal clinched the fourth e-pole of his career with a blistering lap of 1m13.298s to see off his Swiss rival.

After being presented with the Julius Baer trophy for pole, Pascal declared: “It was a very cool session, we changed the car actually quite a lot since free practice this morning and it worked out. So yes I’m very happy with the qualifying today. It’s my best qualifying so far with the Gen 3 car so now we just need to optimise the races. It’s always good to kick off the season like this and we know, usually, we are strong in Mexico. Nothing is taken for granted for the races, but for today’s qualifying, we can be super happy. And I think what we did in the off season worked out pretty well.”
