MIM driver consistently in the top 10 until he hit the wall on lap 122
Indianapolis – After starting from seventh place on the grid of his maiden Indianapolis 500, Monaco Increase Management driver Alex Palou drove a solid race until a crash into the wall at Turn 1 brought his experience to an end. When this happened, Alex was running a strong 9th in his Dale Coyne Racing with Team Goh Honda powered Dallara car. “I think I went too low and just had a spin”, he commented right after the accident. “Yet, I wasn’t doing anything different from what I had been doing up to that moment. The car had a good balance and I was gaining confidence. It’s just a big shame, I am sorry for the Team, the sponsors and everyone else, but I had a lot of fun today and learned a lot”. Despite his retirement, the 23-year old Spanish also salvaged one of the best single lap speeds in the race. Now Alex, MIM and the Team are already looking forward to the next event, which is scheduled for August 29-30 at the WWT Raceway in Madison, Illinois.
