The FIA Formula E World Championship arrives in the UK capital for its final act of the season, with top honours up for grabs and seven drivers – including Monaco Increase Management’s Pascal Wehrlein – mathematically still in with a chance of taking the 2024 title.

The showdown, to be held this weekend on the indoor-outdoor circuit laid out in London’s ExCel Centre, will however realistically be a battle between the top 4 in the standings – the two Jaguars of leader Nick Cassidy and Mitch Evans in second, and the two Porsches of Pascal in third and his TAG-Heuer teammate and currently the in-form man, Antonio Felix da Costa, a few more points adrift.

With a P10 and a P4 in Portland (USA), the 29-year-old German gained points on the no-scoring Cassidy, but lost out to Evans, so now with 58 points available anything can happen in the tight confines of London’s events centre and the atmosphere is sure to be incandescent as the four Jaguar and Porsche teammates have each other to contend with as well as a host of other top rivals.

“In Portland, we closed the gap to the drivers’ championship leader. This puts us in the running to win the title outright in London,” declared the #94 Porsche driver. “The goal for London is to have a clean weekend and to bring home as many titles as possible with a great performance. The fact that I was competitive in Portland, even though the front wing flew off early in the race, shows just how strong our package is. London is the narrowest track on the calendar, a typical street circuit with a completely different track characteristic to the last races. Spectators will also witness a totally different race because saving energy is less important. We’re ready for this and are travelling to the finale well-prepared.”

The 2.09 km ExCel circuit is the shortest on the calendar, but it contains 20 turns offering various passing opportunities with inclines, declines, chicanes, short straights, twisty curves and a change from ultra-smooth to abrasive surface as the cars venture outside.

The weekend follows a regular three-day format, with Free Practice scheduled for Friday afternoon, then Free Practice, Qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday, and the same schedule again on Sunday.
