Following an impressive one-off appearance for the BeDriver team in Round 2 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia at Vallelunga, Lirim Zendeli has now signed a two-year deal with the Milan-based outfit to campaign a Porsche 992 GT3 Cup machine in the remaining four rounds of this year’s series, as well as the next two seasons.
This is a fantastic opportunity for Zendeli, who was born in Germany but who is the only Albanian driver currently racing in top-level motorsport competition. The 25-year-old already has considerable racing experience behind him, from taking the ADAC Formula 4 title in 2018 to wins and pole positions in FIA Formula 3 and racing in Formula 2, before finding a new outlet in 2024 when he dedicated himself for the first time to closed-wheel GT racing.
A first season in Porsche Supercup and Carrera Cup Italia saw him immediately become one of the top drivers, scoring points in almost every round, finishing the season third overall and taking the Best Rookie award in the Italian series.
Now, after his ‘SuperSub’ return at Vallelunga following several months away from the track, Monaco Increase Management-contracted Zendeli is ready to make a full-scale attack on the prestigious one-make Italian domestic title.
“This is great news!,” declared Zendeli. “It finally gives me some confirmation about all the work that I have put – in my life and in the world of motorsport – into my career, and it’s great also for me that I found a team that acknowledges what I do on track and that they trust in me a lot. Obviously I’m super happy that I can continue going after a professional career, and that honestly this is a first real step. It’s something everyone in motorsport dreams of. The opportunity came up when, together with my manager Salvatore Gandolfo, we talked to Darshan (BeDriver Motorsports Business and Driver Manager) before Vallelunga and basically what I showed on track was the reason why they gave me the chance, so it’s a very big thankyou to the team. I’m testing with them at Mugello today, then I fly to Portugal for a Carrera Cup Brazil endurance race at Portimao. Now it’s really up to me because I can finally keep racing for quite a while and focus long-term on my career, so with BeDriver I want to show exactly what all the other teams are missing!”
Monaco Increase Management CEO Salvatore Gandolfo declared: “I’d like to thank the BeDriver team for the trust that they have shown right from the start in Lirim, who will compete full-time in the Carrera Cup Italia. A big thanks also to the Team and the Sponsors who wanted to conclude a two-year agreement, believing and investing in Lirim, and as a result creating the ideal conditions to help both the Team and Driver improve.”
The next appointment for the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia will be at Mugello from 11-13 July, with the remaining three rounds at Imola, Misano and Monza in September and October.
