Off the back of his maiden USF Pro2000 victory at Road America, Monaco Increase Management driver Lirim Zendeli concluded the Mid-Ohio double-header with a sixth and a tenth place respectively. Both results, albeit positive, do not entirely reflect the level of commitment that the Albanian driver put into a weekend which proved to be far more challenging than the previous one. The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course was not particularly friendly to Zendeli’s TJ Speed Motorsports, all three cars struggling with set-up issues throughout the weekend. Nevertheless, MIM’s Zendeli managed to emerge as the best driver in the team and his sixth-place finish in race-1 from tenth on the grid (both events taking place on Saturday, July 1st) is the result of a big effort which allowed Lirim to pass two cars in the final stages. Unfortunately, the race was shortened at the beginning by a red flag following a sudden burst of rain, otherwise Zendeli’s pace could have yielded more to him and TJ Speed. By comparison, race-2 was far less eventful, as it took place on a fully dry track. Starting 11th, Zendeli managed a top-10 finish despite his car developing a huge oversteer and really ‘raced for his life’ in his own words. Once the car settings issues are dialed out, he will surely come back to top form as the USF Pro 2000 series prepares to cross the border into Canada for the next round in Toronto, July 14-16.
