WEHRLEIN THIRD ON THE GRID FOR ROUND 15 BATTLE IN LONDON

Jul 20, 2024

Monaco Increase’s Pascal Wehrlein (TAG-Heuer Porsche) qualified an excellent third on the grid for this afternoon’s round 15 of the FIA Formula E World Championship at the ExCel Centre in London as the championship leader Nick Cassidy starts from the rear in P17.

Wehrlein’s other main Jaguar rival in the title battle Mitch Evans took the three points for pole position for the first of this weekend’s double-header races at the indoor-outdoor season finale.

The German, who has looked strong in qualifying throughout the year, continued his good form this morning as he topped the timesheets in Qualifying Group A to go through to the quarter final duels, where he was up against Robin Frijns (Envision). Here Pascal was quicker in the second sector and edged out Frijns by four hundredths.

In the semi-finals Pascal was eliminated by the other Envision driver Sebastien Buemi but booked his P3 grid slot as Evans beat Buemi for the pole.

This afternoon’s race gets underway at 17:03 (UK) and 18:03 in Europe.
