Barcelona, May 8-9 – And just when you think things couldn’t get any worse… MIM driver David Vidales is already looking ahead to the next round of the Formula Regional by Alpine championship after his Spanish weekend ended up in total disappointment. After two difficult qualifying sessions, in which traffic prevented him from setting a good flying lap time, both races on Saturday and Sunday lasted very little for the Prema Powerteam #12 driver. In the first event, Vidales started 19th and was caught up in a contact with Gabriel Bortoleto as he tried to make his way up the field. The second race did not go any better: David pulled away from tenth slot on the grid but after a few corners he had to swerve to the right and into the gravel trap to avoid two drivers who had collided just ahead of him. Unfortunately, Vidales’ car sustained extensive damage to the rear left corner in the process; he managed to drive back to the pits but then the team called it a day. Despite this weekend’s misfortunes, Vidales remains very confident ahead of the next round that will take place in two weeks on the streets of Monaco, home to Monaco Increase headquarters.
