Dubai, February 13 – A disappointing ending to a fruitful day: these words perfectly describe David Vidales’s second effort in the Asian F3 series at Dubai this weekend. The MIM-backed Spanish driver had started his second race ever in the series from row five, as a result of a grid formation which takes into account the fastest laps every driver has scored in the previous event. From the tenth slot on the grid, Vidales quickly made up positions in his #16 Abu Dhabi Racing by Prema car. He was running sixth when a caution period was declared and susequently, as the race resumed, climbed up to fourth place but, in doing so, he was involved in a collision with two other drivers, which eventually cost him a post-race five seconds penalty. As a result, Vidales slipped back to 11th in the official classification, but the good pace he had shown through the race bodes well for the final event of the weekend which takes place on Sunday.
