Barcelona, October 10-11 – Monaco Increase Management driver David Vidales one again managed to be best rookie on his home turf for the sixth round of the Eurocup F.Renault series, despite a difficult weekend in very tricky conditions. The 18-year old from Leon, Spain, could qualify no better than 13th on Saturday, which meant he had to start the race from seventy row. Another brilliant start, though, allowed David to climb up to 11th. Later in the race, he gained another position and only missed a top ten finish in the very last stages of the race (that was David’s first no-point finish since his debut at Imola).
The second round of qualifying, on a wet track on Sunday morning, went much better for Vidales, who wrapped up the session a good fifth. The race in the afternoon was also held in damp conditions, which seriously hampered visibility. David inherited fourth position when Aron dropped down the field, and kept it to the finish line, which was good enough for him to take home his eighth Best Rookie Trophy out of 10 races he has disputed in the series. With four events to go, the JD Motorsport driver is third in the overall classification and, obviously, best rookie of the series!
