MIM driver continues his preparation with Ganassi team ahead of July double-header

Monaco Increase Management driver Alex Palou has moved on with his preparation for the forthcoming Indycar series races by boarding an early morning flight to take part in a one-day testing session that took place on Monday, June 20, at the Iowa Speedway. The short (0.875 miles or 1.4 Km) oval track is the designated venue for a double-header on July 23-24, and was reinstated in the calendar this year. Some drivers described the experience of driving such a short track as ‘crazy’ and compared it to a video-game. Actually, this is the farthest you could think from racing on a track as the 2.5 mile long Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Anyway, the ‘Micky Mouse’ track poses a lot of challenges concerning slipstreaming and traffic in the first place, so it was worth trying for Palou and his #10 CGR car. The majority of Indycar drivers joined this private session, with 20 cars testing, while a few drivers chose to test at Sebring to prepare the next road track challenges. No official times were given from Indycar, as is customary for this type of sessions, but Palou is reported to have lapped at 19sec047 as a best time, choosing consistency over qualifying pace. The next race in the Indycar calendar is scheduled for July 2-4 at Mid-Ohio, where Palou took a podium finish last year, and Alex is all geared up for the challenge!
