Monaco Increase driver gets strong result despite no testing on the Fort Worth speedway
Monaco Increase driver Alex Palou concluded the second round of the 2022 Indycar series by scoring precious points thanks to a well-deserved 7th place at the Texas 375 today. It was the first championship oval race and Palou and CGR team were the only ones which had come to Fort Worth with no previous testing on the 1.5 miles oval course, their scheduled session having been canceled due to cold weather conditions. In short, Palou hadn’t driven an Indycar since his second place finish at St.Petersburg and a good deal of improvisation was needed to get the best out of a track which drivers can’t use in its full width, as the outer part lacks grip following an improper tarmac layering. Palou got the best of it on Saturday to qualify 11th and soldiered on through the 250-laps long, incident-marred event, focusing on survival till the last stages of the race, when he made his final passing moves on Rinus Veekay and Simon Pagenaud, to bring home a strong seventh place which earned him another 26 points in the overall standings. Palou is now running third in the championship ahead of the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, which will take place April 10th.
