MIM driver distances all rivals in a 13-car session ahead of the Portland race weekend…
Alex Palou looks confident ahead of the last two rounds of the 2022 NTT Indycar series, in which he retains a fair chance to become the first driver in eleven years to win the title in two consecutive seasons. The Monaco Increase Management driver and defending champion showed his form by topping the time sheet in a 13-car testing session that took place at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, that will host the final round of the series September, 11th.
Palou was by far the fastest of the session, with a best time of 1min11sec441 on the73th of a total of 110 laps run which is 0.236 sec clear of Felix Rosenqvist’s second best. Alex’s average speed on that lap was recorded at 181.463 Kph. Also attending the test were championship contenders Pato O’Ward, Marcus Ericsson and Scott Dixon, the last two teaming with Palou at CGR.
Alex Palou is particularly looking forward to the last two races as he has yet to score a win this year, but his famous consistency has allowed him to stay within striking distance just 43 points away from current series leader Will power. This weekend, the Indycar circus is moving to Portland, Oregon, for the penultimate round of the championship. Last year, Alex was particularly succesful on the 3.142 Km long circuit as he won the race from pole position ahead of Alexander Rossi and Scott Dixon. Bolstered by the excellent result in the Laguna testing session, and with continuing support from Monaco Increase, Palou is determined to score another good result and fans are guaranteed to hear his famous battle cry “Vamos a por ellos” – Let’s go get’em!
