Monaco, July 4, 2021 – Alex Palou took yet another podium finish to himself, Monaco Increase Management and Chip Ganassi Racing as he came in third at the end of the Honda 200 on the iconic Mid-Ohio road track in Lexington, Ohio. This result allows the 24-years old Spaniard to reach the series’ summer break still at the lead of the point standings, having extended his margin to +39 over Pato O’Ward. Palou had started the 80-lap even from seventh on the grid, after barely missing the top-six pole position fight, but he held a lot of confidence in the pace of his #10 Honda powered Dallara car and the race actually came towards him. First, he moved up one place when Will Power span right in front of him, then he held the position until the last round of pit-stops, when a brilliant strategy by his team really paid off. By delaying his last refueling and tire change, he managed to leave the pit-lane in fourth place, and when Colton Herta engine stalled at the restart Alex entered the podium zone. “It has been a great day”, Palou said afterwards “I missed a little bit in qualifying but we had a great strategy today and the guys in the team were fantastic!”. The series will resume August 8 in Nashville, Tennessee, with just six rounds to go.
