Pascal Wehrlein will line up his factory TAG-Heuer Porsche on row 2 of the grid in P3 for the second time this weekend after getting through to the semi-finals once again.
Right from early morning free practice, Pascal showed he had shrugged off the disappointment of yesterday’s unfortunate Round 6 race, in which he finished in P16 after a contact with another driver, and he was always up at the top throughout this morning’s qualifying session and duels.
The MIM-contracted driver, second in Group B qualifying, went up against Sam Bird (Neom McLaren) in his quarter-final duel, which he won with a lap of 1m16.882s
In the semi-final, he lost out in the one-lap duel with another McLaren driver, Jake Hughes, but his Group B time of 1m17.784s was good enough for the third slot, alongside Nico Mueller (ABT Cupra) and behind poleman Hughes and Jean-Eric Vergne (DS Penske) on the front row.
