Monaco, 19/12/2019 – Monaco Increase Management and Dale
Coyne Racing are proud to announce that an agreement has been reached for MIM
driver Alex Palou to race for the Illinois-based team in the 2020 NTT IndyCar
series.
At only 22, the Spanish driver has
successfully worked his way to one of the most demanding and prestigious motor
racing series in the world, following a career that started with the Spanish
KF3 karting title before joining Campos Racing, for which he scored victories
in the Euroformula Open, Spanish F3 and GP3 International series. He then moved
to Japan and was best rookie in the challenging 2019 Superformula, winning one
race and finishing third overall.
“To be
announced as a race driver for the n.18 Dale Coyne Racing in IndyCar is a dream
come true”, Alex said. “It feels like a perfect step for me after a good season
in Super Formula with Honda in Japan. I had a positive experience in my first
test with an IndyCar at Mid-Ohio, during which the team welcomed me straight
away. It is a great group of people and I already feel confident and
comfortable here. I’d like to thank the whole team and Team Goh for this
amazing opportunity and for believing in me. It’s great to continue a
relationship that started early in 2019 together with Honda. The racing in
IndyCar feels great and I feel really excited to join the most difficult single
seater series. Already started working in deep with a new car for me, new
tracks and the most exciting thing, oval racing. Can’t wait to get racing!”
The agreement with DCR marks another
step in MIM’s global mission of helping young, talented drivers reach their
best in motorsport by providing professional support and passion. The
Monaco-based group has already a contract in place with young Spanish talent
David Vidales for the F3 series, as well as with German Pascal Wehrlein who,
besides competing in the FIA Formula E championship, has been confirmed as
development driver for Scuderia Ferrari in Formula One in 2020.
