David Vidales concluded a positive two-day testing session at the Jerez circuit this week. After scoring points as a rookie in both races of the opening round of the FIA F3 Championship in Bahrain, the Monaco Increase backed driver was again underway at the Andalusian circuit in his #20 Campos Racing Dallara car. The weather was rather inclement in the first day – Tuesday – and that meant that Vidales could not make good use of the dry weather slick tyres. Nevertheless, he put on a solid performance towards the end of the day, ending the session in the Top 10 with a best lap time of 1min 34sec901 over 41 laps completed. The next day – Wdnesday – saw substantial improvement and Vidales felt at ease with the car, never really chasing fast laps until the very end of the last turn, when the team tried a rather bold set-up configuration that didn’t pay off. Vidales ended Day Two as the fastest of the three Campos drivers, with a best personal lap time of 1min30sec157 and a 38-lap tally, with no mechanical issues. The FIA F3 drivers will be back on track next week (April 15 and 16) at the Circuit de Catalunya in Montmelò, near Barcelona, ahead of the second round of the series which will take place the following week at Imola during the Formula One Grand Prix weekend.
