MIM driver impresses on first official outing with Campos team
Monaco Increase Management driver David Vidales has officially debuted with Campos Racing team for the 2022 FIA Formula 3 series, by taking part in a three-day pre-season testing session on the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) at Sakhir, Bahrain. David will race with number 20 in his black-and white Dallara car, which was officially unveiled in the BIC garage and carries the MIM logo on the livery. The test was articulated on a total of six different runs, two each day: but the final effort on Friday afternoon was marred by a sandstorm which caused the red flag to be exposed due to limited visibility. It was a shame for Vidales as the team had saved as many as six sets of new tires for the last days, having had to work in the first part of the session to dial out a time-consuming brake issue. Nevertheless, the F3 rookie from Leòn, Spain, managed to be eight fastest (with old rubber) on Day 2, and in the fifth run on Friday morning he further improved to a positive P6 out of 30 drivers, with a best lap time of 1min47sec971. The first race weekend of the 2022 season will take place on the same Bahraini track starting with the sprint race on March 19, to be followed by the feature race the day after.
