MIM-contracted Pascal Wehrlein heads into Race 8 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Berlin from the best possible position, after securing a sensational pole position on home soil for the Porsche factory team.
The German driver delivered a standout performance in qualifying at Tempelhof Airport, overcoming DS PENSKE’s Taylor Barnard in the Final Duel to claim his second career pole in the German capital. The result caps a strong weekend for Porsche, who are celebrating their 75th motorsport anniversary.
Wehrlein’s front-row start puts him in a prime position to fight for victory in front of his home crowd, as he continues his push towards the top of the championship standings.
“Starting from pole at home is always something special,” said Wehrlein. “Now the focus is on converting that into a strong result in the race.”
Race 8 of the Berlin E-Prix gets underway on Sunday at 16:05 local time.
