WEHRLEIN BACK IN FORMULA E ACTION AT MIAMI AFTER LENGTHY BREAK

Apr 11, 2025

After a two-month break from FIA Formula E action, MIM-contracted driver Pascal Wehrlein will be back behind the wheel of his all-electric Porsche 99X this weekend for the fifth round of 16 of the globetrotting series in the USA, the Miami E-Prix in Florida.

It’s been a bit of a varied start to the season for the German driver as he attempts to defend his #1 plate, and he currently holds eighth place with one podium and 25 points to his name. But Pascal’s qualifying form has been good, with two pole positions in four races, as well as his race pace in the TAG Heuer Porsche, and all that is needed now is a bit more luck after the various incidents in which he has unfortunately been involved.

“So far I would say that we have the pace, but we haven’t been having any racing luck. Hopefully this will change in Miami,” declared Pascal. “At any rate, we are in good shape after the break from racing. I was also able to use the time to prepare for Le Mans. But I’m 100 percent focused on Formula E. We aren’t making any compromises here. I’m looking forward to the coming weeks when I will be putting in a lot of time behind the wheel.”

Formula E will be present for the seventeenth race in the championship’s history on US soil, and for the third time in Miami. The venue for round 5 will be a new one, with drivers tackling the Homestead-Miami Speedway, 50 kms south-west of Miami, for the first time.

Some parts of the oval racing course will be used along with the technical infield road track for a total lap distance of 3.551 km, which includes several high-speed straights and heavy braking areas offering numerous passing opportunities.

The weekend schedule will follow the usual one-race Formula E format, with FP1 on Friday 11 April at 22:30, and then FP2 at 13:30, qualifying at 15:40 and the race at 20:05, all on Saturday 12 April.
