WEHRLEIN’S BUSY OFF-SEASON CONTINUES WITH PORSCHE IMSA TESTING AT DAYTONA

Reigning FIA Formula E World Champion Pascal Wehrlein’s busy off-season continued this week in official pre-season IMSA GTP testing at the Daytona International Speedway (Florida) with the #85 JDC Miller Motorsports Porsche 963.

The Monaco Increase Management contracted driver, who completed four days of official Formula E pre-season testing at Jarama last week with his factory TAG-Heuer squad in preparation for the start of the new season in three weeks’ time, was a late addition to the satellite squad at Daytona as he stepped into the Porsche for two days of prototype testing.

The German-born Mauritian, one of two TBA drivers in the team, took part in 17 hours of testing around the 3.56-mile Daytona banked circuit in the bright yellow Porsche, which he shared with Tijmen van der Helm, Oliver Gray, Gianmaria Bruni and Chris Miller.

The best lap time recorded by the five-man crew was 1m36.396s, just four-tenths off the pace of the Acura that topped the timesheets, which was good enough for seventh place in a 12-strong GTP field.

This wasn’t Pascal’s first time behind the wheel of a 963, the German having previously been one of several drivers who took part in a 36-hour endurance test at Sebring (Florida) in 2022.
