Abu Dhabi, February 19 – It was another solid race for MIM driver David Vidales at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Having joined the Asian F3 series later than most other drivers, the 18-year old Spaniard is lacking some experience and knowledge of the tracks. Nevertheless, his 4th place today showed that he can tackle more experienced drivers and get solid results. Having started from 8th on the grid in his Abu Daby Racing by Prema #16 cars, Vidales once again took the best out of the first lap – which is where most of the action normally takes place in this championship – by climbing up to fifth. His driving was nothing less than spectacular in those early stages, then he paced himself until Roman Stanek parked his car alongside the track in sector 3 with three minutes to go, allowing Vidales to go up another place. With the exception of race 3 in Dubai, when he lost another fourth place having to serve a penalty, David has scored points in every race he has entered so far in the Asian F3 series. Now he looks set to start from a similar grid position in Race 2 tomorrow (the grid for this event being set by each driver’s fastest lap time today), while he will enjoy a promising P4 start for the third and final event late on Saturday.
