Pascal Wehrlein will start today’s Round 6 of the FIA Formula E World Championship at the Misano World Circuit from the second row of the grid after setting third quickest time in the Qualifying session.
The German, driving his factory TAG-Heuer Porsche, made it through to the semi-finals on the championship’s first visit to Misano, where he was up against Jean-Eric Vergne (DS Penske). The gap between the two over the flying lap was just 0.058 of a second in the Frenchman’s favour, but Pascal’s result means that third place will not be too disadvantageous a start for this afternoon’s race on the fast permanent Misano circuit, behind Evans (Jaguar) and Vergne. Previously in the quarterfinals, Pascal had easily seen off Jake Hughes (McLaren).
In the presence of MIM CEO Salvatore Gandolfo, the current points leader produced another excellent qualifying performance in the championship’s only visit to Italy and he will be hoping for another good result in these two Italian races as the championship heads into a crucial month of racing.
