MIM drivers shines in qualifying and fights all the way to recover from a troubled start…

Monaco Increase driver Pascal Wehrlein had more than a reason to be happy with seventh place at the end of an incident-marred Saturday race in South Korea’s Seoul e-prix. The #94 driver survived a race of attrition to score more points to his tally. Pascal has scored consistently in the last three race of the FIA Formula E Season Eight, and his result in Korea could have been even better if he hadn’t hit trouble once again at the start. The German-Mauritian driver had qualified his Tag-Porsche car (painted in a shiny black livery for the occasion) in second row with an excellent fourth best time, but when the lights came out he didn’t seem to find the power to get away properly and dropped to eigth. As soon as Wehrlein had started to fight back, as many as eight cars behind him went off track at Turn 20 creating a massive pile-up which forced the Race Direction to red-flag the event. Once the debris was cleaned, Wehrlein kept his position at the rolling start and soon went into the first of the two four-minutes mandatory ‘attack modes’. The activation zone being on a straight, there was little time to be lost in the process, but the extra power proved not to be very effective on a damp track still scattered with puddles from the morning rain. Nevertheless, MIM’s Wehrlein was able to put constant pressure on championship contender Edo Mortara, eventually passing him for seventh place with a daring move under braking. After that, Pascal started to chase Jean-Eric Vergne, but his comeback was cut short by a full-course yellow flag following Sim’s crash against the barriers, and the race was concluded under caution. Overall, Wehrlein showed a very good pace on the Korean track and is looking forward to the final round of the season on Sunday.
